I made a tribe ID just to join this forum. That's how much I hate this movie.

I saw it with a few friends. I was pretty excited once it ended...not only because it was terrible, but moreso because I was looking forward to talking about how terrible it was with the two people that I viewed it with. Much to my chagrin, when the film was finished, all they talked about was how great it was. Maybe we were watching different movies...

Anyway, feel free to come over to my forum to spread your hatred of the film (and back up my stance):

SWEET! I just posted on that site.
Yeah, this movie was awful! Yet so many people like it. What up with that?
Hey, if you weren't on tribe.net before, then how did you come across this tribe?
    welcome!

Came to the site by searching for "Garden State Sucks" on google. This page was the 2nd result.

I was kinda looking for a webpage with a huge following, perhaps a few thousand strong...but this will do ;) Plus, ya never know...this tribe is still growing...

10??? Don't give the growth rate too much credit now. Let's set our goals reasonably here. A number like "7" by 2008 is a lot more plausible.

By the way, nice post on the Nubblies forum. Absolutely beautiful.

yea, I guess double-digit membership is too much to ask for in the foreseeable future. Yeah, I think a goal of 7 will do for now. hey how about 7 for '07?

The most fustrating thing, as a single man, is talking to a cute girl who it turns out absolutley loved this movie after i just finished ripping it to shreds. Augh! Extract foot from mouth now.

And these are women who seem otherwise intelligent and critically mided people. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME A LOT. I now feel like i'm clostetd in some way, totally avoid giving an opinion about it, or fake something lik, "yea, it was okay."

I wish this movie were never made. It's ruining my LIFE... well, not really, but you get the idea.

      preach on brother...
I know one girl who told me it was great, but she's really dumb so I wasn't shocked to find out it wasn't...
but this one girl I know is really smart, she went to an ivy league college, and she LOVED the movie. She's from Jersey, so she said it "really captures the culture of NJ" so I said "What, it's a culture of bad movies? It's a culture of people who can't act, can't write and can't develop characters?" So needless to say, we don't talk too much about this movie anymore...

Try being a girl talking to a guy who loved this movie. It seems like there's this contingent of men who think liking this movie improves their "sensitivity creds." Aaarrgh!!

Saw _Sideways_ this weekend, though, and loved it! Ah, the loveliness of a film that incorporates humor, heartbreak, and believable characters. I have such a thing for Paul Giamatti. *sigh*

I agree with Sarah, every guy I've ever spoken to ( with the exception of this lovely forum) thinks this movie is great. When I talk about how annoying Natalie Portman is in this movie, they just look at me with the agast expression-- like I've just said something offensive about about black people or jews or something. This movie needs to be knocked of it's pedastal. The *worst* part was when the three main characters started screaming into that canyon. And then that line after that, "Enjoy discovering the blah blah blah abyss" or something. Ugh. :)
